Purchased a copy last year from Scottish Screen Archive, as I was trying to build up a collection of the 3 Cup winning teams. Their website stated Ref 0561B length 1min copyright Mr B Kemp. What I received was a disc with 30 seconds filmed at ground level. It had 7 jump cuts and finished with a person walking across in front of the camera. Change days! Nothing remotely exciting and certainly no goals shown.
However we have discovered there was a film show in the La Scala cinema High Street Paisley within hours of the match finishing ..... and I'm sure it was more that 30 seconds!
If you have more success tracking the film, we have transfer to DVD facilities.

Pointless question that doesn't matter some might say, and i can fully understand that point of view. However, we don't have a game for two weeks, so it's a wee filler thread to try take discussion away from Danny Lennon. I feel that it does matter, i feel it matters in terms of defining your own expectations of the club. I will leave you to make up your mind on how to define how ' big ' a club is. In my opinion it's a mixture of history, fan base and achievement.
For me there's the 6 city clubs ( Celtic, Newco, Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen and Dundee Utd ) who are bigger than us without question. They have far bigger fan bases, more trophies and bigger budgets.
For me we are in the small group behind the city clubs. The 3 biggest 'town clubs' in the country are - in my opinion - ourselves, Kilmarnock and Motherwell. Us and the Well have 4 major honours, Killie have 5. I'm aware that both of them have enjoyed a bit more success - particularly in the league - in recent years. I feel this is cancelled out when you take into consideration the finances of each club. The Well have been in admin and Killie have racked up about £8 million in debt. Us on the other hand, haven't been in admin and are debt free. We also have pretty similar fan bases, therefore i feel we that the three of us are clubs of roughly equal size.
That of course means i feel we are bigger than the next tier of town clubs. I would largely put clubs like Falkirk (2 honours), Dunfermline (2 honours), Morton (1 honour), Partick Thistle (2 honours), St Johnstone (0 honours) on the next step below us. They all have smaller fan bases and have all achieved less in the game.
Then there is clubs who are anomalies who i find difficult to place. ICT and Ross County for example, two relatively new clubs who have fan bases comparable to the teams in the tier below us and who have both made major finals in this decade. Not as big as us yet of course, but maybe could be in the future? Maybe already bigger than some (Morton) in the tier below us? Then Dundee, i have no idea what to think about Dundee. They have 4 honours too, but the last one was more than 40 years ago, we have 2 since then. I think they have more fans than us but i can't remember them being better than us without cheating. Whenever they aren't cheating they seem to finish below us. Are they bigger than us? Personally i would say no.
Therefore i would have us as joint 7th biggest team in the country. I can't separate us from Motherwell and Killie. What do you think?

Surely Dundee United were run 'brilliantly' by having Eddie Thompson willing to spunk away the family fortune on them and running up massive debts, before (allegedly) Mrs Thompson said enough is enough, and stopped him flushIng the family fortune down a tangerine coloured toilet.
I don't know how 'big' we are. If it takes into account population in surrounding area, attendances, honours, years in top flight, or a zillion other considerations. I certainly regard us as one of Scotland's bigger and better clubs, doing better than yer' Hamiltons, Falkirks, Dunfermlines, Dundees and Livingstons etc.
My concern is that the ICTs, Ross Countys, Particks, St Johnstones and Killies of this world could be leaving us in their wake. Many, many clubs must look at us and wish they had what we have - the modern stadium, the dedicated training ground, the indoor airdome, the financial footing, the League Cup in the archives, the community initiatives, the youth set up, and a squad containing guys like Thommo, Teale, McGowan, Kello, McGinn, and McLean.
Everything is in place. While no-one has a divine right to success, we shouldn't be perennial relegation pamper soilers. We should be regarded in the same breath as Aberdeen, Hibs, Dundee Utd, Motherwell - capable of a shite season and being at the wrong end of the table for sure, but definitely not thought of as joint favourites for the drop every year, and proving those pundits invariably right, by being down and dirty in the lower spots in the league time after time.
The current BoD have put the foundations in place. In fact, more than foundations, see list above of thIngs we have that many others must covet. Maybe a change at the top is needed to inject new ideas and energy even more than mere investment.

Or we could go down the young and inexperienced route, as we have always tended to do: Lennon, McPherson, Coughlin, Hendrie this BoD have never appointed a manager with top flight experience.
Murray took over Dumbarton last season when they were cut adrift at the bottom of the league. He kept them up and he's really kicked them on this season. Despite being a part time team they are battling manfully with several full time teams for the 4th play off spot in the Championship, oh, and they're in the quarter finals of the cup too.
He has more relevant managerial experience than either Lennon or McPherson had when they were appointed, and I'd like to see us go for an up and comer as opposed to an old head. He will cost far less than a Levein or a Houston and he may even make us some money in compensation if he does well with us and moves on.

I'm sure he is interested. There will be literally hundreds of managers in and out of work who will be interested in managing us.
We are a tremendous club for any manager to work at. We have no debt, our own stadium and our own state of the art training facility and are located in the central belt.
We will have our pick of many in the summer when Danny leaves. Right now I'd go for Iain Murray, what a tremendous job he has done with Dumbarton.

I used to make this very same point when the previous manager was in charge.
Unless there was a team stranded adrift at the bottom then more or less every team in the bottom 6 was in a relegation battle.
The dividing line between one of our best finishes in decades and getting relegated was extremely thin.
However, this was all dismissed. I was told repeatedly by the majority on this forum that being in a relegation battle wasn't good enough and cup runs didn't count.
The hypocrites of this forum (they all know who they are - and ironically most are now staunch Lennon supporters!) set the criteria so now they must all stand by it.
By their criteria, Lennon must go!

Follows on from yet another poll that showed the support for the "Yes" campaign at around a third.
To be honest Lex I think what the polls are showing is that there has never been in increase in their support. It's been completely flat since the whole campaign begun and only one freak poll result has shown the gap narrowing. I think that mirrors what we are seeing on this forum and on social media sites where people have become entrenched. There's very few floating voters left.

Two of our worst perfromances of the season have came at Tannadice, and they are a really strong team who are back in form. We will do extremely well to avoid a beating here.

Nice to see the Sportscene "experts" have predicted Saints for the play off place. I love it when these twats write us off. We always prove them wrong.

Is there any reason why we would regard this as a good appointment?
I have no idea what his management credentials are, but was wondering what other folk might know that would suggest Ferguson would do a better job than our current manager or the likes of Ian Murray etc.

League Cup Celebrations & Quiz Night
Its almost one year on from our historic cup win and what will forever more be remembered and known as "St Mirren's Day" to all loyal buddies. With this in mind we are aware many of the towns bars and retailers plan to turn the town black and white for the weekend and we at the St Mirren Fans Council want to do our bit.
A relaxed social event is planned for Sunday 16th of March in the hospitality suite at the stadium, kicking off at 7pm
. The evening is a chance to get together with like minded buddies and celebrate the... 5 years at our new ground and to relive the league cup final.
Tickets for the event will be £7.00 and this will include one drink at the bar and also a finger buffet.

One of the main events of the night will be an opportunity to take part in a quiz with some of your St Mirren Idols as team captains, with a round of drinks for the winning team.
Teams will consist of teams of ten, but don't worry if you have a smaller group or want to come along on your own, as all Saints fans are welcome and we will team you up with other like minded Saints supporters on the night.
A small entry fee of £1 per person is payable on the night for those wishing to take part in the quiz.

Based on previous similar events we have organised, we require tickets to be purchased in advance as previous events have been a sell out.
Tickets will also be required for entry on the night.
Tickets can be purchased from the clubs Main Reception and Ticket Office.
