The question I ask myself is where would we be without McGinn? IMO he is the glue that's helped pulled everything together.
The players who were here all season prior to his arrival didn't particularly shine. 
For that reason Stephen McGinn will get my vote. 

Amazing that in spite of the horror show of a season, we've really got a lot of good strong options for POTY. 
For me, it's a tough call to make but I'm inclined to say Stephen McGinn. Despite being here half a season he has been the beating heart of this side. He sums up St Mirren FC for me and is just wonderful to watch. He is so good he makes folk who play around him better for being in the same team as him. That's what real leaders do. 
The YPOTY is a tough one to call. My initial instinct is to say Morgan or Mallan (is Stevie still young? I'm kidding, I know he is but he's been there forever), but for me, I can pinpoint one lad coming on and making me feel in our darkest hour and a half, that things might just be alright.
Kyle Magennis coming on at half time against Morton on that horrendous night in Cappielow, replacing a Billy big baws with zero footballing ability in Kyle Hutton... a man who picked the ball up in the middle of the park at one point and literally flapped his arms like a doo as he didn't know what to do with it and in that moment, shut the door on his career with us... then this raw 18 year old strolls on at HT, does nothing fancy but everything correct, keeps everything simple and plays his way into Hutton's place. At that point I thought that with lads like him and Morgan in the team, maybe things will not be so shite all season. 
Magennis and McAllister coming in sort of set a precursor to what Jack wanted to do in January and the lad is playing like he's been there for years. Comfortable in the middle or the right, he's been an unsung hero and chipped in with some big goals into the bargain. Had Kyle McAllister stayed, this vote might have gone elsewhere as I genuinely struggle to think of a young player at St Mirren who has been more exciting than McAllister, but rest assured, the less lauded Kyle (naw, no Hutton) is going to go on and have a cracking career. 

Lovely words and i can assure you they will be appreciated in the Magennis household.To have a family member pulling on the jersey every week fills us all with pride and the lovely thing about Kyle is that he is so level headed and will never be a billy big time(his big brother would not allow it).Hopefully Kyle will be part of the championship winning team next season.That really would be the dogs danglies.

I can understand people saying it shouldn't go to a player who has only been here a few months, but lets be honest, we are judging this over a three month period anyway. Until the end of January when Ross cleared out the dross and signed his own team, everyone had been shite, apart from Magennis and McAlister, who were doing well for young boys thrown into a shit situation.
Since the end of Jan though, everything has changed, and for me, the main catalyst for this has been the introduction of McGinn. Since he arrived, everyone has been better. Mallan and Morgan especially have been different players.

Oh the irony.

The spirit you write of does not come round often,  there is an air of excitement around the fans because what they are seeing on the pitch. I know we have had our moments in the past under T.H , G. McP , DL, but what I see from the fans takes me back to Fergie. Now I'm not saying Jack is Fergie just that the excitement is there like the Fergie days.

In spite of what Lex says, O'brien was a bit of an unsung hero last night. He's made a wonderful stop at 1-1 that prevents Morton going in at HT ahead. 
Yes he's not the most convincing at crosses. He's 21 though and that is certainly something that can still be coached in. He's a very good keeper indeed. It's easy to see what he brings, he's brilliant at full stretch, pulling off good stops both against Ayr and Dumbarton at crucial times. 

Of course Ross is responsible for the games that we've lost since he took charge.
However, only a complete idiot or a total plum nurturing a four month long cream puff could deny that he has been responsible for our excellent winning streak of late.
We may or may not survive, but at least we're doing it with entertaining,quality football and with a fair degree of fight.

He's responsible for it all. Some of us, though, can see past the poor spell where he had players he didn't particularly want, and see more merit in assessing what he's done with the players he did actually want, as this will be the situation going forward - he'll be allowed to sign his own players.
 
There really is no need to rage against anyone praising him as though you and he are mortal enemies. Let it go and appreciate the turnaround in the club's fortunes lately, and enjoy the great football we've been playing without feeling the need to go over old ground constantly...

5 months ago we got horsed in Greenock. Last night we blew they away. The difference? The squad is now JR's and not the dross he was left with. Poor Shankland was booed by both sets of fans last night for being useless. Even Jim Duffy hasn't improved Shankland any yet some were expecting JR to somehow get results from players that had poor attitude, workrate and little skill. What a transformation from that last outing with players like Clarkson, Shankland, Hutton, Walsh, Webster, Langfield being replaced with players that want to be a success. If the season had started in January we would be top of it now and coasting towards promotion. Thank f**k we did not replace Rae with the likes of Jimmy Calderwood but appointed JR. Jack Ross Must Go? - yer havin' a laugh.

It doesn't matter if you like Jack personally or not , but no rational football fan would fail to be impressed with what he has done to our team . .
 
It amazes me that Brendan Rodgers was willing to speak better of our current team than some of our own fans . .

We were discussing last night after the game that our season started to change after the defeat to qots in early January, though the major impact started as soon as Jack completed all of his own signings going into the start of February. We haven't looked back and it is evident on that basis that half the squad he inherited were just not good enough, or did not have the heart. I think Shankland for one is a stand out example of that.

We can look back on previous January windows and mention the impact the likes of Dorman, Goncalves, Newton etc made, though this may go down as the best window we have worked in.

He's waiting till Hell freezes over or until we go down.
